Outcast! Tales of old Spitalfields
*SORRY, THIS WALK IS SOLD OUT*
Please email me for future dates
Saturday 9th March from Liverpool Street station.
1115 for an 1130 start.
Spring is in the air and it's the perfect time for a stroll around Spitalfields - one of London's most historic and photogenic areas. We'll be peeling back the layers of history here to discover the many different peoples who have come here escaping famine, religious persecution and genocide - Ashkenazi Jews, the Irish, Huguenots, and now hipsters... each of whom have left their distinctive mark on the area. We’ll see one of Hawksmoor’s most famous churches, beautifully preserved streets of Georgian silk weavers' houses, wonderfully preserved shopfronts, a pub with a murderous secret, and a shape-shifting place of worship that has been an Anglican Church, Methodist mission, synagogue, and mosque!
As usual we will end up in quirky local pub Dirty Dicks for those who'd like to carry on chatting. (Email me asap if you'd like to join for lunch)
Walks RV details etc will be sent Thursday before the Saturday :)
