Hello there. I'm Alison, your friendly guide on a journey into the City of London's secret, intriguing - and sometimes shocking - past. As well as showing you the City's most famous and iconic sights we will also explore its lesser-known hidden corners. Along the way you'll hear tales of Kings and commoners, merchants and mayors, alewives and gladiators, murderers and Suffragettes. My aim? To share my love of the City's extraordinary history - and to leave you with a smile on your face.
My passion for the past started as a child, when my dad used to drag me up ruined Norman towers and down into World War Two bunkers... I must have inherited his enthusiasm because today I'm a qualified City of London guide, with an Institute of Tourist Guiding green badge. I've also spent too many years to count making TV documentaries for the BBC, Channel 4 and international broadcasters, specialising in guess what..? history. And I write crime novels; my latest series is set in a Camden mortuary (I confess to having a taste for the dark side...) I look forward to meeting you soon on one of my guided walks!
