Today the soaring temples of the City are dedicated to Mammon, but in the Middle Ages the skyline was dominated by its 100-plus Christian churches and chapels. There are still more than fifty churches crammed into the square mile - the ancient heart of London - and they provide an evocative window into its past. This tour visits some of the most memorable, historic and beautiful examples, from medieval Gothic, to the brilliance of Wren's post Great Fire creations. We'll see stained glass, carved fonts, Blitz survivors, painted domes, wedding cake plasterwork and modern art and hear the fascinating stories witnessed by their ancient walls.
This walk is a little over a mile largely on the flat, duration c.120 mins. Final details will be sent to all bookers ahead of time.
